Orthodontics/Clear Aligners

What is orthodontic treatment?

Orthodontic treatment is the correction and alignment of your teeth. This includes crowding, spacing, open bite, underbite, overbite, crossbite and more.

At Harbourtown Dental we use a system called Spark Clear Aligners. Spark Clear Aligners are a clear form of orthodontic work that is worn, like a tray, over your teeth for a certain period of time. They need to be worn 22-23 hours a day and only to be taken out to eat and brush your teeth. They work together with the low visibility attachments that are bonded to your teeth and each aligner is changed weekly.

Why Spark Clear Aligners?

Spark Clear Aligners is the perfect option for young adults and adults that don’t wish to have fixed metal braces. The clearness gives it a subtle appearance and can go unrecognised as opposed to the metal braces.

What is the process?

The first is to ensure your teeth are in a stable condition (if you are NOT an existing patient with us, we highly recommend a new patient check up and clean). A free consultation with Dr Reema will go through the steps and process of your clear aligner journey.

Using our Trios Intraoral Scanner, we scan the current positioning of your teeth and take images and X-Rays for Dr Reema to liaise with the Spark team to create a plan which will digitally show you your possible outcome and each stage week by week (please allow up to 2 weeks for this stage).

Once the plan has been reviewed and approved with the patient, the aligners will be sent to our clinic. To begin, Dr Reema will place the barely noticeable attachments to the required teeth and provide the first 4-6 aligners. The patient is then needed to return every 4-6 weeks to the clinic for progress checks and new aligners until orthodontic treatment is completed.
